The Department was established in 1952 with Dr. N.A. Baloch as its first Head of the Department. This Department shoulders its duties in the field of education and research and organizes Seminars on various aspects of literature from time to time. It has gained momentum in the publications of magazines: Sookhri, Saughat, Poorab and Parkh. Journal “Keenjher” is its annual publication. These journals carry significant importance in the field of research and literature. The department has produced 42 Ph.D. and 5 M.Phil. studies on Sindhi Language and Literature. Linguistics has been included as one of fields of Research.
